Thelma Harmon's Sew and Sew Journey
In late October, 2009, Appalachian Christian Village in Johnson City, TN, hosted a book signing and reception for Gotcha Covered: A Legacy of Service and Protection. Among the more than 80 guests at the gathering was Thelma Harmon, self-described as “the short little lady who brought the apron book” (and part of her collection of aprons) to the event. Thelma is a quilter who makes handmade aprons to keep her fingers limber, and after the signing she made an apron for me and one for Aunt Katherine. For each of our aprons, Thelma used fabric that depicts apron images, so we each now have an “apron made of aprons.”
Thelma had written a story for the Senior Citizen’s newsletter and she shared it with me, with permission for me to reprint it on the web site. Enjoy My Sew and Sew Journey
