The 50th Nurse
When I was putting together Gotcha Covered: A Legacy of Service and Protection from 2006 through the middle of 2009, I begged and pleaded with my VUSN ’66 classmates to be a part of the project. Many of them—twenty-one—did and the other 28 adopters came from the ranks of other nurse networks.
Recently our class had our 45th class reunion and a wonderful thing happened—one of our classmates who had hesitated to come forward earlier now expressed to me her regret at not being a part of the effort. She then proceeded to write on the spot what would have been her story. Not only that, but she had brought with her to the reunion a lovely party half-apron that she had made when she was 10 years old. She gifted me with the apron and gave me permission to publish her story on our web site.
