Progress Report from Jocelyn Macharia April 2011
April 13, 2011
I hope (all) members of TNAP are fine. Me and my family here in Kenya are doing well. I have been very busy with school assignments, and also community work. I will be back to class for my final semester on 23rd May 2011, which will be preparing me for the final Desertation. The Desertation will be handed over end of January next year 2012. I will be writing it from May 2011- end of January 2012, that is almost ten months.I have really gained a lot of knowledge in this course and the community is also benefitting a lot. I was assessed on how my “Base group’‘ members have been transformed since I started the group , by the director of the Masters Programmes, Dr Kamau and she was really impressed. She even selected one my ‘‘Base Group’‘ members living positively with HIV to give a talk to students at St Paul’s University.
I have always been praying for all the members of TNAP, for the care and support. This has given me a lot of challenges to also give back to the community. Imagine as a result I was appointed to represent Community Based Organisations(CBOs) in Othaya District in Constituency AIDS Control Commitee, last December 2010. This is a heavy task, but I am doing it with all my heart. This means monitering every community group in the district guiding them on how to sustain their group, and also how to start Income Generating Activities(IGA), and on preventive measures of HIV infection. I have also started school programmes, of counselling the youth on how they can prevent themselves from being infected with HIV. This also gives the opportunity to test them for HIV virus, as the best way to know their status and behaviur change since they are the future of our country.
I believe we will meet with you in person at God’s own appointed time. Pass my love to all the members, and I wish each one of you longer life, full of God’s blessings and good health.
