Post-graduation update from Jocelyn Macharia
Writing from Kenya, Jocelyn Macharia, who recently completed her masters in community and pastoral counseling from the University of Wales, says “The group that I was training during my studies was selected to represent all the Community Based Organizations in Nyeri County, at Agricultural Show. They were selected by National AIDS Control Council NACC). They presented all the income generating activities, that is weaving of mats, beads, liquid soap and also the HIV and AIDS awareness creation.
I was also appointed to represent civil society in the recent Alcohoic Control Act 2010. That is a post I would never have thought of, but it is worth it all. You are aware that most of the youngsters of ages 15-45 years are alcoholic, and it needs a lot of interventions and also God’s wisdom. It has been too much especially for the boy child. There is a lot of work in the community to be done. I also represent Community Based Organisations (CBOs ) in Othaya Constituency in Constituency AiDS Control Committee (CACC) God has also blessed us with a granddaughter and a grandson who is now two and a half months. What a great God we have?
Once again pass my heart felt gratitude to all members of TNAP. “
