Authors make splash at Southern Festival of Books
Oct. 10, 2009 Nashville-Amidst 40 mph winds, tornado warnings, and rain, the 22nd annual Southern Festival of Books convened Oct. 9, 2009 for a three day run on Legislative Plaza in Nashville. One hour after opening on Friday, all outdoor vendors were evacuated to shelter below the Plaza. Upon emerging 1 1/2 hours later to very cold wet conditions we battened down the hatches and went home. Saturday morning dawned dry but cold, and intrepid Gotcha Covered contributing authors Sally Yeagley, Lydia Grubb, and Ginger Manley took turns manning our selling station in the Williamson County Council for the Written Word booth. Sally is the all-time best bookseller (see photo by Betty Harper)—no passer-by could resist her sales pitch and once she enticed them to look inside our book, they almost all opened their wallets and took home a book!
