"Seven are given their diplomas Thurs," headlined The Anderson (S.C.) Daily Mail
Marta Strong cherishes the memory of her late mother-in-law, Minnie Caudle Strong, who was one of the proud graduates pictured in this photo taken just before the graduation exercises in May, 1929. According to the newspaper clipping sent to me by Marta, a fan of Gotcha Covered: A Legacy of Service and Protection, over three-hundred persons, including “many physicians and their wives” heard Dr. R.C. Grier, president of Erskine College of Due West, pay tribute to “the spirit of self-sacrifice actuating those of the high calling of the trained nurse who has performed, and is performing today, a real service to mankind.”
We join Marta in saluting Minnie Caudle and her fellow graduates.
